Koh Phangan is about 2 1/2 hours from Surat Thani Province and about 45 min. from Koh Samui Island by boat. The easiest way from Bangkok to Koh Phangan would be to get yourself a joint tickets from Songserm Travel who operates joint ticket for (Boats and Express boats, buses, train, planes) to Phangan. Or you can take an 1 hr. flight by Bangkok Airways daily from Bangkok to Samui and take the catamaran speed boat to Koh Phangan.

Two of the most visited of the bays, Had Rin and Chaloklum especially in high season are crowded with sun worshippers but there's also quieter, more secluded bays and beaches.

Some people think Phangan is just another island for backpackers or party freaks mainly visiting the island because of the Full Moon Party on Had Rin beach. But this is not so small and Had Rin is just a relative small part of the island.

Mai Pen Rai is'nt only a phrase commonly heard on the island, Mai Pen Rai is also the name of a popular bungalow resort here.
Koh Phangan Island has also a selection of top end places to offer, for example Mandalai Hotel or Sun Set Cove. Both of them have a high class service and a general high standard.
